Program Implementation Tips

When you're considering a new  incentive program, use the checklist below.

  1. Define Who Will Be Eligible:  Sales? Executives? Service personnel? Customers? Buyers?
  2. Set Target Goals of Incentive Program:  Increased Sales by salesforce, dealers, buyers? Increase Brand Loyalty. Quality Control targets for manufacturers.  Lead Recruitment?
  3. Set a Budget:  As all items in a promotional mix, a budget should be prepared.
  4. Set a Time Frame for Performance or Recognition: Incentive Progams reward the target audience within a given time frame to be most effective.  Annual is sometimes too long, unless the incentive is significant.  Consider different time parameters such as monthly, quarterly, or seasonal.
  5. Make Sure Your Target Audience Knows About The Program:   A one-time announcement is fine for a short time program, but repetition of the goals and performance tracking are very important to successful incentive programs. Email can be very effective for some audiences, plus direct mail for customers and buyers.
